#BTS The Making of Our Holiday Card

After months of gruelling workouts and diets (think Rocky IV, but more intense), we’re finally able to unveil Pivot & Pilot’s highly anticipated holiday card. Read through as we take you through a rare behind-the-scenes look into our operations.

Part 1 – Diet

The most important thing to consider when changing your health regime is your diet. In order to build the necessary muscles needed for strength and stamina, we opted for a high-protein and carb diet.

Breakfast: Fruit smoothie with avocado, berries, yoghurt, kale, almond butter, and a raw egg

Mid-morning Snack: Yoghurt parfait with fresh berries, chia seeds, flaxseed, hempseed, cashews, almonds, walnuts, pecans, and all other nuts

Lunch: Baked salmon and a chickpea salad with jerky

Afternoon Snack: Another yoghurt parfait

Dinner: 14oz steak cooked medium rare with a side of lentil soup and spinach salad

Dessert: Another yoghurt parfait

Post Workout: Carbo-loading in order to help replenish energy levels and assist the protein in reaching our muscles

Part 2 – Exercise

Experts say to start off slower by feeling out your body so you know your limits. We ignored that advice and hit the ground running with high intensity interval training (HIIT) three times a week. On days that we weren’t doing that, we were weight training at an underground gym/fight club only accessible through the secret tunnels of Vancouver (oops, did we say too much?). We’d tell you our full routine, but whatever happens in the Octagon stays in the Octagon.

Part 3 – The Beast*

You all know Bernie to be our friendly, cute HR Manager whose management style consists of sleeping, snuggling, and begging for food. Here’s the inside scoop: he’s really a vicious drill sergeant. Every time we went to practice the pyramid, he’d knock us down and yell, “Not good enough! AGAIN!!”

Bernie knocking us down and barking orders.

He’d interrupt our training sessions by messing with the lights and ornaments, just to keep us on our toes and make sure we were prepared for every scenario. As tough as he was, we were thankful to have him there. Without him, we wouldn’t have been able to execute this move with such precision, both in timing and structure (what kind of person would make themselves the star, though? Just saying…)

And there you have it. All the crazy hoops we jumped through to bring YOU, our lovely friends, clients, and families a festive holiday card.

Happy holidays from everyone at the Pivot & Pilot team! Wishing you all a safe and happy New Year!

*No animals or employees were harmed in the making of this holiday card.
