In today’s video, we will be talking about what starting a Business in your 20s is actually like.
Starting a business in your ‘20s can certainly come with its challenges as many people may have preconceived notions of what a CEO and business owner is supposed to look like. If you’re a young business owner or maybe looking into starting a business you’ve come to the right spot! Check out some of our tips, tricks, and lessons on owning your identity as a young entrepreneur!
1. Passion for your business
You should be passionate about the work you do for your business. If you don’t have drive and passion for what you do, when the going gets tough it’ll be harder to remain committed to your business.
2. Listen to your client’s needs
Really tuning in to what your clients want from your business is key. Asking the right questions and thinking strategically about how your business can meet their expectations! Additionally, looking into the needs of existing markets and demands to determine the unique offering that you can provide.
3. Mentorship
Talk to people in your industry and chat with the people that you look up to! Who better to confide in than the people who have already walked in your footsteps.
4. Imposter Syndrome
Be confident in your position as a business owner and be willing to take risks and try new things. Put yourself out there, network, and be willing to confidently share your brand with those around you.
5. Dress the part
Dressing in a way that is clean, put together, and most importantly, that you feel good in. Dressing for work doesn’t have to mean putting a fancy top hat and moustache on; but, presenting your best foot forward is a great way to feel like you belong as a business owner.
6. Take risks and work hard
Do the work! Starting a business certainly isn’t an easy task and takes a lot of energy and passion. Whether it’s going the extra mile for a client or lending a hand to your employees, doing the work is a necessary part of starting a business.
7. Authenticity
Perhaps the most important lesson of all is to show up as yourself. As you build business relationships, you should always remember that the people you talk to have personal interests as well. Showing up authentically as yourself will attract others who appreciate your authenticity and trust in your business.
